|
This study investigated the relationship between old age preparation(level and types of past old life preparation) and successful aging. A mediating model structured by life satisfaction was used to verify the relation between the two variables. The data was obtained through the Seoul Welfare Panel Data complied by the Seoul Welfare Foundation in 2010. The study analyzed 1,429 people over 65 years old. As research methods, frequency, descriptive statistical analysis and structured equation analysis were conducted. Additionally, a Sobel test was used to verify the significant mediating effect. The findings are follows: First, life satisfaction functioned as a partial mediator on the relationship between elderly’s past old age preparation and successful aging. Second, successful aging will increase as participating in preparation for maintaining health, retirement saving, social participation, hobby and leisure activities. This study provides theoretical and practical implications for promoting elderly’s past old age preparation based on the conclusion elderly’s past old aged preparation has positive effects on life satisfaction and successful aging.
